Neuroleptics in Serum/Plasma

Neuroleptics in Serum/Plasma LC-MS/MS Analysis Kit

Antipsychotic (AP) drugs are widely prescribed for the treatment of schizophrenia and psychosis. Their effect is based on influencing the synaptic conduction in the central nervous system. They fall into two classes: first-generation or “typical” antipsychotics, and second-generation or “atypical” antipsychotics. The neuroleptics bind to specific receptors of the neurotransmitters such as dopamine, preventing transmission of stimulus information and leading to inhibition of the transmission of neural signals. APs are used in various neuropsychiatric conditions such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), behavioural disturbances in dementia, geriatric agitation, depression, eating disorders, personality disorders, insomnia, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance use and dependence disorders.

Highlights

Simultaneous measurement the concentrations of 26 neuroleptics.

Total run time 8 min.

Just a few pipetting steps for the sample treatment-protein precipitate and shoot approach-no need for derivatization.

Each drug safeguarded by its own internal standard.

Consuming small volume of patient’s sample.

Long life span of HPLC column.
